Partners In Housing

Frank Stampf, Executive Director of Partners In Housing (PIH), has retired as of December 31, 2011.  Mary Stegner, the Partners In Housing Finance Officer, has been named as the new Executive Director.  Barbara Blumer, the PIH Support Services Director, has been named as Director of Services. They will work very closely together on day-to-day operational functions as well as the organization’s strategic development.

Stampf, who retired from a 23-year career in the Air Force in 1993, and from the defense contracting business in 1999, began with PIH in 2000 as their part time Volunteer Coordinator.  In 2002, he became their Director of Operations, and in 2007, was named as the Executive Director, replacing Dick Conn who retired from the position after16 years.

Having worked as the Financial Manager of PIH and Catholic Charities concurrently before moving full time to PIH in 2007, Stegner (right) has the unique experience of having worked with PIH when the concept was first developed in 1989, even before it became a separate nonprofit agency.

Similarly, Blumer (left) supported both PIH and Catholic Charities as Director of Human Resources and Risk Management prior to moving over full-time to PIH in 2006.  As a result, she also has a long history with the organization and its mission.

“While I obviously leave with mixed emotions, I am certain that this is a great move forward for the agency, and ultimately for the homeless families we serve.  I have every confidence in Mary and Barbara’s leadership abilities and their passion for the mission of PIH” commented Stampf.

Supporters Give Generously at "Generous Harvest" Minimize

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who attended PIH's Generous Harvest dinner on October 25th, 2011!

This was PIH's first ever "ask" event, and it was a tremendous success: 27 generous supporters raised over $11,000 for PIH's mission of helping homeless families!

The first $5,000 raised was also matched by a generous matching gift from Howard and Jane Price of Multi-Net Marketing, bringing our total proceeds for the night to over $16,000!  Thank you Howard and Jane for your generous gift!

Several speakers told their stories of why they are involved with PIH and how this organization has affected their lives.  Attendees heard from board members Ewell Muller and Sarah Michel, PIH staff member Donnis Martin, a current Partner named Sharon who graciously shared her story of becoming homeless and finding Partners In Housing, and our former board member and Partner Chelley Gardner-Smith.

PIH Partner Wins Car! Minimize

Congratulations to PIH Partner Donella Jones!

On Saturday July 30, 2011, Airport Automotive gave a free 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback Limited to Donella Jones, a homeless mother in the Partners In Housing Self-Sufficiency program.

Airport Automotive was participating in a nationwide program that was recently launched called “Wheels To Prosper.” This program awards a late model vehicle that has been fully inspected and serviced to a worthy and deserving individual, chosen from the local community.  One of the qualifications is that this individual has been active in community service, and is in true need of a car.  Donella was nominated by Partners In Housing, based on her exemplary performance in the program and her true need for a vehicle.

Donella became homeless after losing her job during the recession.  Despite facing health issues, she has worked extremely hard to get her life back on track, and has recently found full-time employment with benefits in the catering field, her career specialty.  This car will help Donella get to and from her new job, as well as her many volunteer commitments.

PIH Parties at TESSA's "Pasta In the Park" Minimize

Partners In Housing staff had a great time supporting TESSA at Pasta In the Park on August 6, 2011.  This annual fundraising event boasts a pasta sauce competition, pasta dinner, wine tasting, silent auction, and dancing.   Proceeds from the event support TESSA's mission of creating a community without domestic violence or sexual assault.

Organizations participating in the pasta sauce cook-off set up themed booths where attendees can try their unique pasta sauces.  Prizes are given out for the best sauces, as well as the best booth theme.  PIH hosted a pasta booth with a 1950's theme, including our very own Elvis Presley!
