Homeless Self-Sufficiency Program Results Minimize

In the last several years, PIH has seen record numbers of applicants to our program.  Last year, we served 348 people in 133 households, including 141 Partners and 207 homeless children - the highest number of people served in our 20-year history!

We provided these families with many services, including

  • 56,262 Housing Nights
  • 1,845 Direct Casework Hours
  • 7,174 Life Skills Hours (some in collaboration with other non-profits)
  • 602 Budget Counseling Sessions
  • 95 Therapy Hours (paid for by PIH)
At PIH, our goal is not just to relieve a temporary crisis, but to create long-term transformational change in the lives of the homeless families we serve.  So, just how successful is our Homeless Self-Sufficiency Program at changing lives?

Well, over the last three years, we've had 159 Partners leave the program sometime after completing their introductory period (90 days), with some families staying up to two years.  Of these Partners,
  • 65% improved their housing
  • 65% Improved their income
  • 53% improved their employment
  • 45% improved their education
  • 63% improved their overall self-sufficiency
